Ma.

Mi madre is bomb.commom. Here are some reasons my mom is better than The West Wing and post-it notes combined.

-My momma made us eat healthy cereals like Cheerios and Muesli (except it was called Just Right, so silly). As a result, I STILL eat healthy cereals like Cheerios and Muesli!

-My momma was willing to drive anywhere and everywhere for soccer games, softball tournaments, orchestra concerts, whatever. She was one of the most loyal parent fans in every activity I participated in.

-My momma is an awesome cook and amazing hostess. This morning, she slaved away over french toast while the rest of us sat down and enjoyed the delicious breakfast. She wouldn't eat until our bellies were full and satisfied.

-My momma is funny. She's the quieter one of the family, so sometimes it takes people a few interactions to figure it out, but she cracks everyone up. At dinner, she told the story of how the brakes went out in the car my dad lent her (because she was lending him her nice one), and we laughed so loudly that everyone looked at us. Take that, serious restaurant.

-My momma put up with a healthy amount of goofiness from my brother and I. We were pretty annoying sometimes. If I were her, I might have gone crazy with the sibling songs, bickering, wrestling, and standing at the edge of our bedrooms after getting disciplined yelling at the top of our lungs, "WE'RE IN OUR ROOMS NOW!!!!!!"

These examples represent .0008% of her total wonderfulness. Momma, thanks for being so dang amazing. I love you.

A coping method

Some of my friends are moving far away. This picture represents my feelings. Let me explain.

-The horse looks a little sad. I'm a little sad about my friends moving far away!
-The horse looks a little shiny. I'll be shining with sweat when I dance out my blues at a Bon Voyage party someone will throw for my friends who are moving far away.
-The horse is a mammal. I am a mammal, as are my friends who are moving far away.
-The horse is galloping on a beach. I will visit my friends in Santa Barbara and Honolulu, and then I will yell, "Galloping on this beach is relaxing! I'm glad I visited you! Thank you for moving far away!"

Tent breath, Chirpy birds

In high school, E-Bot, Courthouse, and I went fake camping. (How is it camping if you are not surrounded by lots and lots of trees, hm?) Er-Bear and I stole a fellow camper's air mattress and rafted down the river. We saw a dead fish.

I want to go camping right now.

Nic uses words like "super-intell" in Scrabulous conversations.

NicUnCool: itbc <----- What does this stand for?

Awesome: Itty Bitty Titty Committee
Awesome: Get on urbandictionary.com, poopsie.

NicUnCool: duh, I knew that, it was a test.

Awesome: I told Drew that you asked what "ITBC", intending to tell him and have a good laugh, but he already knew! So he just giggled!
Awesome: Why the h would anyone know that?

NicUnCool: Because people know that. Most people know that. You just think you're super-intell. You're not. You're just the average joe.

Conversationhadinamiddleschool.com (if there were one)

Student: Are you Asian?
Me: No.
Student: Are you Mexican?
Me: No.
Student: So you're just White, then?
Me: Yep.
Student: If you were half-Asian, half-Mexican, you'd be hot.

I don't know what this means.

NOT an addition to my silly hat collection.

My coworkers are silly, in general. That means there are kooky hats around. This one is my favorite. I want to steal it, but I can't, because that'd be "stealing from work."

Me and my stupid ethics.

The competition.

Here are some of my favorite Ski to Sea team names:

-Team Lint Brush
-The Truth about Potatoes*
-Bellingham Public Library Dewey Decimators
-Happy Birthday Yacoba Brauginsky to Sea
-OOO-UM-GOW-AH!
-Hyper Primbly's Eye Buggers
-I am McLovin

I will try to hunt down a Dewey Decimator and chat with them about book club. "Why are the books we want never available?" I'll ask. "I don't know. Let's focus on the race," s/he'll respond. Then we'll kayak. I'll sing something about book club to the tune of "Down By The Bay."

Car radio, 1 in the morning, Sleepy

In the 2003 hip-hop hit, "Shake Your Tail Feather," Nelly explains, "They be like 'he the man' when I'm really a Thundercat."

That's a funny lyric.
