Boyfriend and I were walking along Bay Street when I said, "I saw on Oprah the other day...." I paused. Oh my God. I am starting a sentence with "I saw on Oprah."

So I said, "Oh my God. I am starting a sentence with 'I saw on Oprah.'"

And you know what he said? No, not, "You are an old woman who has a book club and watches Oprah," and not, "You watched at least one part of an episode of daytime television, you lazy bum."

No, no, my boyfriend said, "That's ok. Oprah's smart."

Consider this a blog hug, boyfriend. Because Oprah IS smart.

What I Expect From Norway

I have never seen a bear in the wild. No, never! I mean, I've had some incredible zoo experiences, but nothing in good ol' nature.

That will all change with Norway. Yes, I've decided that my first wild bear experience will be polar.

And while I'm planning this spontaneous stroke of good luck I WILL have... I will... I am going to say that I will see both polar bear momma and polar bear baby, like so:

I have the day off. Thank you, Veterans.

Last night, after trying to get through People of Sparks (booooring), I thought, "I will refuse wake up at the equivalent of, like, fourth period and sleep through my day off. I will set my alarm!" So I did. For 8 AM.

It blimbled me awake.

I said, "Good morning!" in a Dean Martin voice. (That's a lie.) Irish Breakfast tea is steeping and I'm updating my blog, all before what would be second period.

Take that, potentially unproductive day off.

Europa

Aight, so, Scandinavia awaits me. I fly into Copenhagen on December 27th and want to be in Trondheim on January 2nd. That's less than a week. A week!

Thus, I have decided to skip Sweden. No more New Year's Eve in Stockholm. Deal with it, Swedes.

Where in Norway should I spend it? More importantly, with whom should I spend it? My Stockholm/Seattle/Trondheim pal will no longer be with me for one of my Top 10 Holidays.*

I should learn to speak Norwegian or something.

This coffee shop is closing and I can tell the barista is irritated with my presence. You know what I say to this barista? I say, "I tipped you a dollar on a $1.37 drink even though you weren't friendly, so I don't feel bad for staying here. Also, thank you for playing The Beatles. I like The Beatles. So do most people I know."

I don't really say that, of course.
